Book Launch - Thursday, August 22nd 2013 at 8pm

Williamstown Heritage Society launched its book entitled
"Williamstown/Templetogher Parish, Our People and Landscape" on the above date.

This unique book, which includes 380 pages and 152 maps, details the families who lived in all of our 50 townlands from 1856 to this present day and plots the position on maps of all houses whether existing, derelict or disappeared. It also details many of the special features in our local heritage such as field names, roadways, wells etc. It also contains a detailed collection of the Irish words and phrases which were commonly used in the locality.

The book is available at €20 in a number of local outlets, including Smyths' Gala Store, The WDC Office and Curragh West P.O., or directly from Leo Finnegan, Corralough, Williamstown, Co. Galway (finneganleo100@gmail.com) or (086 1603043).  For those living away, the cost of postage is €7.50 (Ireland), €10.75 (U.K.) and €17 (U.S.A.)

In the picture below, taken on Book Launch Night, we see some of the active members of our society cutting the cake depicting the cover of the book.  The cake was specially prepared for the occasion by our caterer on the night, Eileen Flynn.
